Katie Ryann is a rising NYC-based choreographer who specializes in Contemporary Ballet and collaborative interdisciplinary art projects including those working with film, music, visual art and fashion. Her work has been described as “an oil painting under lights”, utilizing unique shapes and glossy momentum to attract and lead the audience across the stage or screen. Her choreographic process is deeply interrogational, involving thorough research and experimentation, throughout the studio, on paper and conversation.
In May of 2023, she premiered her first concert entirely on film entitled, The Renaissance Woman: THE BODY. Inspired by the way in which the female body was portrayed throughout the Italian Renaissance, she stripped the male hands that crafted these bodies and reclaimed the advancements of the Renaissance from an unapologetically feminine lens.
